Meet the sisters behind the adventure.
We grew up together, and somehow ended up on opposite sides of the world — Olena in Southeast Asia, Iryna in Switzerland. We talk across time zones, argue about letter drafts over voice messages, and share a conviction that the best things you can give a child are curiosity and a sense of the world beyond their doorstep.
Gina's Letters is what happens when a business builder and a UNICEF professional decide to make something together. Not a curriculum or another app — just a beautiful letter, once a month, from somewhere in the world. As Iryna put it after seeing the first draft of the very first letter: "This is exactly what I was dreaming of receiving when I was a kid!"
We are the team. We write the letters, we argue about the details, and we care deeply about what ends up in your child's hands.
Who we are
"It started with holiday cards. Every year, my daughter Nina and I would sit down and write real ones: with stamps, handwritten notes, the works. We sent them to friends near and far, and one year something clicked: the kids on the receiving end were running to the mailbox. Parents were describing how excited they were! A simple letter had become an event. I couldn't stop thinking — what if children got that feeling every single month?"
Olena Mazur-Mohan
Olena has spent years building businesses, most notably Resumeble, a global career services company. She thinks in systems, obsesses over quality, and has very little patience for things that are mediocre when they could be great.
At home, she is the one reading drafts out loud to her daughters and watching their faces. She knows exactly when a story loses a five-year-old — and she will rewrite it until it doesn't.
Iryna Mazur
Iryna lives in Switzerland and works in international development with UNICEF, where she has spent years crossing borders, learning how people live, and thinking carefully about how children develop empathy and understanding of the world.
She is the traveler and the researcher in the family. If a letter mentions a local tradition, she wants to know how it actually feels to be there. If we describe a place, she makes sure we're getting it right — not just factually, but in spirit.
For Iryna, these letters are about something bigger than geography. They're about teaching children, gently and early, that the world is wide and worth being curious about.
